A Drop of Milk in Black Coffee (ブラックコーヒーにミルク垂れた, Burakku kōhī ni miruku tareta?) is Chapter 58 of the manga Beastars written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki, published in the Weekly Shōnen Champion of the Akita Shoten publishing house.[1]

Synopsis[]

Determined to find the murderer with the only clue that he is a member of the drama club, Legoshi realizes that the murderer is no different from him. Legoshi says the word "meat", which catches the attention of all carnivores. Legoshi mentions that he is often reminded of the fact that Tem is dead and that he spoke to many carnivores in the club. Bill, confronts him and asks him if he suspects them and says that with Louis's resignation they already have many reasons to be depressed. Bill mocks Legoshi saying that he is a good representative of canine idealism but that he did not trust a wolf that fucks rabbits, which makes Legoshi furious and both have a heated discussion. Suddenly, an unknown student enters the dressing room calling the attention of everyone. In a conceited way, he remarks that they were arguing and highlights the scratches on Legoshi's arm, and then he leaves. Bill, flustered by his attitude, asks if he's a new member and completely forgets about his discussion with Legoshi.

At the drama club, the new member introduces himself as Pina, a freshman and a new member of the acting team. The girls are drawn to Pina's appearance, while the males are skeptical of his presence, revealing that he joined the club because someone asked him, but he does not know much about theater. He hopes everyone can have fun and get along. Bill interrupts saying if Sanu plans to make Pina the replacement for Louis. Pina asks if it is a matter of appearance, declaring that all the students like the drama club but that this goes badly without Louis. He remarks that the club had a bad time without a handsome and distinguished actor and mentions how the eyes of carnivores lose their shine when they are consumed by their desires and instincts and that these are simply not beautiful; a comment that offends all the carnivores in the club. Pina says that his only redeeming trait is his looks since he has no "herbivorous pride" or conviction, and although he cannot replace Louis, he is popular with women which is good enough for him. Legoshi notices how all carnivores unite to have Pina as a common enemy, and he tries to remain oblivious to that situation, but nevertheless, Pina goes to him and mentions that one of his members was devoured in the spring and their star actor disappeared. Pina once again highlights the scars on Legoshi's arm and concludes that Legoshi is definitely someone dangerous. Legoshi tries to contradict him by avoiding getting involved in the discussion, but the carnivores forcibly integrate him into their side to their chagrin.
