The Beasts' Bon Festival in the Summer (獣の盆、彼らが夏, Kemono no bon, kare-ra ga natsu?) is Chapter 18 of the manga Beastars written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki, published in the Weekly Shōnen Champion of the Akita Shoten publishing house.[1]

Synopsis[]

In their dormitory, Legoshi and his roommates are cutting their fur due to the arrival of summer. All the students are looking forward to summer, due to a great event that is held in the station, the Meteor Festival.

At the drama club, Sanu announces that the drama club will be in charge of the event. This excites the club members, except for Legoshi and the other stagehands, who are the ones who take the hardest work.

In the drama club warehouse, the stagehands are preparing to reuse most of the decorations from last year. After finishing the planning at night, the stage crew returns to school while talking. Legoshi separates from the group to do another thing.

While walking, Haru finds a neglected flower jar in a school hallway and takes it to the gardening club to give the flowers proper care. On her way, she is tripped by Mizuchi and her posse and consequently the jar of flowers breaks. Mizuchi taunts Haru and begins harassing her, because she heard Haru made another move on her boyfriend. Upon seeing the situation, Haru taunts Mizuchi back, which enrages Mizuchi who between tears rebukes Haru for being the one responsible for ruining their romance. Haru rejects the guilt that Mizuchi and rebukes her between screams, telling her that she will continue to watch her from afar until the day her species goes extinct, and tells her to go vent her frustrations on someone else. Mizuchi and her companions are frightened by Legoshi's intimidating figure, who was behind Haru while looking for her, and flee. Haru congratulates herself before looking behind her and seeing Legoshi.
